Jake and Eddie to reunite in Canberra
Eddie Jones is set to join up with his good friend Jake White again… at the Brumbies.
It has been confirmed that Jones, who was an assistant to White when South Africa won the World Cup in 2007, will act as the Brumbies’ consultant next month.
White confirmed that Jones would spend a brief period with the Canberra-based franchise to provide advice to him, his coaching staff and the players.
Jones, the Wallaby coach from 2001 to 2005, was scheduled to join the Brumbies during their South African tour later in the season, but is unable to travel there as he is taking up his new role as Japan’s national coach.
“I trust Eddie enough to listen to what he says, but that doesn’t mean everything he says will be done,” White told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“It’s more just to bounce ideas off each other and from the outside he looks at ways he thinks that teams will play against us or ways which we can improve as a group.”
White used Jones, who coached the Brumbies between 1998 and 2001, as a consultant when he guided the Springboks to World Cup glory in France.
