Journeyman flyhalf joins Stormers
The Stormers have confirmed that George Whitehead has joined them on loan from Griquas. It appears the 28-year-old joined the Cape side late last year with his move only being confirmed this week.
The flyhalf has been a bit of a journeyman in recent seasons having previously played for the Cheetahs, Southern Kings and Griffons before his move to Griquas.
The Stormers could not confirm how long he will be with the team.
Robbie Fleck's side will have a shortage of quality flyhalves heading into Super Rugby.
Robert du Preez, who was a key player in Western Province's Currie Cup success last year, has joined the Sharks, while Kurt Coleman is currently playing for the Southern Kings in the Pro14.
Meanwhile, there is still some uncertainty over Jean-Luc du Plessis' return to the rugby field. The 23-year-old underwent a hip operation last year and there is no word on when he will regain full fitness.
Damian Willemse and Joshua Stander, who joined the Stormers from the Bulls late last year, are the only other flyhalves in the squad at the moment.
