The Lions confirmed that Dyantyi – who has been leading the South African try scorers charts in his maiden Super Rugby season –  tore his pectoral muscle during their 35-49 loss to the Jaguares in Buenos Aires last weekend.

The 23-year-old's recovery period could only see him return to action when the Lions' take on the Highlanders in Dunedin on May 12.

Captain Warren Whiteley is expected to make his long-awaited return to Super Rugby next week when the side host Stormers.

Whiteley has been out of action for four weeks after he sustained a grade two PCL [posterior cruciate ligament] injury during the side's defeat to the Blues in Round four.

Meanwhile, flank Robert Kruger (concussion) and centre Howard Mnisi (knee contusion) who both took knocks during the Jaguares clash are set to be fit for the match against the Crusaders this weekend.
