Lizo and Trevor are 'world class'
SUPER RUGBY REACTION: Bulls head coach Pote Human had a lot of praise for his front-row forwards after their 28-21 win over the Waratahs on Saturday.
The Bulls front row of Springbok prop Trevor Nyakane, hooker Jaco Visagie and Lizo Gqoboka were instrumental in securing the Bulls front-foot ball off the scrum and laying the platform for victory.
Gqoboka was awarded the man of the match award for his prowess in the scrum and with ball in hand.
Human believes Nyakane and Gqoboka are worthy of Springbok selection ahead of this year’s World Cup in Japan.
“It’s a pleasure to have them in the squad,” Human told reporters after Saturday’s match.
“At this stage both of them are world class. I’m not the Springbok coach, so I can’t pick them for the Springbok side, but they won’t let the Boks down, that we all can see.
“After last week’s performance against Stormers and today [Saturday] again against the Waratahs, at this stage they’re just in great playing condition.”
Meanwhile, Gqoboka revealed how he managed to get the better of Wallabies veteran prop Sekope Kepu in the scrums.
“It was video analysis, staying by the computer the whole week. I know he [Kepu] is a quality tighthead, so we just had to do our homework,” said Gqoboka.
Much like technology is changing the way society and people live their lives on a daily basis it is no different in sport where Gqoboka added that video analysis has become the norm in tactically preparing for future opponents.
“I don’t know how they did it back in the days but its professional now.
“You have to know your opposition, you have to know his strength, and you have to know his weakness and what he does under pressure as well.
“I feel if you do your homework then on Saturday you will fall back on your default to the highest level of preparation,” explained Gqoboka.
The prop praised his entire pack of forwards for their effort throughout the game on Saturday and said that the team is enjoying scrumming under scrum coach Daan Human.
“Coach Daan is really doing well and holding everyone accountable, not just the front row.
“Everyone is excited about the scrums; I think that’s the difference this year,” Gqoboka added.
