Marx holds onto captain's armband
SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Lions head coach Swys de Bruin revealed his 26-man squad for their Australasia tour.
The Lions will face the Brumbies in Canberra on Saturday, before heading across the Tasman Sea where they will play the Chiefs in Hamilton and the Crusaders in Christchurch.
Despite De Bruin’s public denounced of his leadership group following their 5-42 defeat to Sharks, the coach has again handed the captaincy armband to Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx for their trip.
Marx has been the skipper in the absence of regular captain Warren Whiteley, who will be on standby in South Africa.
Other names on standby for the three-week tour group are Harold Vorster, James Venter, Jan Henning Champher, Tyrone Green and Wandisele Simelane.
While in the pack, the Lions welcome back Albertus Smith, who returns from a six-week injury lay-off.
