More injury woes for Kings
Kings head coach Deon Davids has confirmed that hooker Martin Ferreira will miss the rest of the season after dislocating a rib, while wing Luzuko Vulindlu and flyhalf Elgar Watts will also not be available for selection against the Jaguares, following injuries sustained during their 0-53 loss to the Sharks in Durban on Saturday.
"Martin [Ferreira] has a dislocated rib and we don't see him coming back for the rest of the season. Luzuko [Vulindlu] has a hamstring tear that will require further scans to determine the extent of his injury, while Elgar [Watts] has a foot tendon injury similar to Stefan Watermeyer that will see him out for at least two weeks," said Davids.
Flank Thembelani Bholi, who was stretchered off during the match on Saturday, had been cleared by the medical team and had not sustained a concussion. He did have a bit of neck stiffness that was being treated, but would be available for selection.
Davids said the good news was that the flu bug that had been doing the rounds through the team seemed to have burnt itself out.
He also confirmed that Sithembiso Sithole, who had undergone a recent appendectomy, had been sent home to recover.
The Port Elizabeth side has struggled all season with injuries. Two of their best players, flanks Chris Cloete and Cyril-John Velleman, are the most notable absentees through injury.
Cloete is out for the rest of this year's Super Rugby campaign with a knee injury he sustained in the 18-34 loss to the Blues two weeks ago, while Velleman is set to return for the last few rounds of Super Rugby after suffering a broken thumb in the same game.
