No love lost for ex-Cheetahs

The Force's Wilhelm Steenkamp and Sias Ebersohn know that they will have their work cut out for them against their old team the Cheetahs this weekend.

The Force are riding high in fifth position on the log with six wins from their nine games this season, but former Cheetah Steenkamp said that the bottom-placed Bloemfontein side cannot be underestimated.

"I don't know where people get that impression that we're going to beat them easily. They're difficult at home," Steenkamp told AAP.

Steenkamp played for the Cheetahs in 2011, whilst flyhalf Ebersohn played for Naka Drotske's team for five years, but the big lock insisted that once they got on the field it will be all about the rugby.

"It's not going to be strange for me. When you run out on the field for those 80 minutes, there's no friends or mates. It's just another team you play against.

"Afterwards, you can have a beer together and chat but, for that 80 minutes, we are just aiming to get the result," he added.

The Cheetahs have leaked plenty of tries this season, but they are a potent attacking side that will ask serious questions of the impressive Force defence.

The Perth side do not have a great track record in South Africa, but if they manage to win both their game on tour then they will be within touching distance of their first play-off spot.

The 29-year-old Steenkamp said that leaving the Bulls and moving to Perth has been a good move for his career as he gets more game-time for the Force.

"Definitely for me, it was the right decision to go for the Force, I'm enjoying my time there and I get a lot of game time," he said.
