Off-field yellows for Elstadt and Botha
Stormers loose forward Rynhardt Elstadt and Bulls flank Arno Botha have both received off-field yellow cards in the wake of the Super Rugby clash at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
Botha was penalised for a dangerous tackle on Bryan Habana after the Stormers wing had called for a mark inside the 22m area.
In this case the referee for the match Jonathan Kaplan acted on the incident by changing the free-kick to a penalty. Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed an off-field yellow card was appropriate.
Elstadt was cited for contravening Law 10.4 (m) Acts contrary to good sportsmanship. He was involved in a tackle where he made contact with Bulls player Akona Ndungane's hair and continued holding his hair as they went to ground.
The referee, Kaplan, acted on the incident after a report from his assistant by awarding a penalty. An off-field yellow card may be issued by the SANZAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.
Elstadt has now received three yellow cards this season and must appear before he Duty Judicial Officer appointed for the match in which he last offended during.
