Rassie to play important role in Bulls' future
NEWS: Springbok coach and SA Rugby Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus is part of a four-man committee tasked with appointing the new Bulls coach.
According to Netwerk24, Blue Bulls Rugby Union President Willem Strauss confirmed that Erasmus is part of the committee along with Barend van Graan (Outgoing CEO of the Blue Bulls Company), former Western Province coach Alan Zondagh and Chairperson of the Blue Bulls Coaching Association Blikkies Groenewald.
The Bulls are looking for a replacement John Mitchell, who left the Pretoria franchise to become England’s new defence coach.
Strauss said any future involvement from Erasmus’ will depend on who gets the head coach role.
Last month, Erasmus said he will help the Bulls with their transition with a new coach if he was asked.
“Rassie will definitely not be a celebrity coach,” Strauss told Netwerk24.
“It’s important that we get stability and his expertise could prove valuable for a period.”
According to Netwerk24, the Bulls are also set to confirm the signing of Duane Vermeulen for 2019 and 2020 Super Rugby seasons.
Vermeulen is currently playing for the Kubota Spears.
The 32-year-old missed the Springboks’ Rugby Championship campaign this year due to his club commitments in Japan.
