SUPER RUGBY NEWS: Sharks centre Marius Louw has been cited for foul play, during his team’s 28-14 win over the Rebels in Durban at the weekend.

Louw is charged with having contravened Law 9.11: Players must not do anything that is reckless or dangerous to others and Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.

The incident occurred in the 73rd minute of the encounter between at Kings Park at the weekend.

Upon further review of the match footage, the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR foul play review committee – which will take place on Monday.

* Meanwhile Angus Scott-Young of the Reds has also been cited for alleged foul play – during his team’s 36-14 win over the Brumbies.

Scott-Young is charged to have contravened Law 9.12: A player must not physically abuse anyone. Physical abuse includes, but is not limited to punching or striking with the hand or arm.

The incident took place in the 29th minute of the match in Brisbane at the weekend.

The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR foul play review committee, which will take place on Monday.

All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to the foul play review committee to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the foul play review committee.
