Sharks lose Bok trio for decider
INJURY UPDATE: The Sharks will head to Newlands on Saturday for their Super Rugby crunch match against the Stormers without three of their key Springboks.
The Sharks returned from Argentina on Monday – following their 7-34 loss to the Jaguares last Saturday – and team doctor Gerhard Coetzer had some rather disturbing news.
Curwin Bosch had to leave the field with an ankle injury in the second half of the match in Buenos Aires and was sent for scans upon his return to Durban.
The extent of his injury has not yet been determined.
However, he will not be available for selection this week.
Flank Jean-Luc du Preez, who picked up an MCL injury to his left knee in training last week, will be out for another week.
Armand van der Merwe and Philip van der Walt have not fully recovered from their respective injuries and will not be considered for selection for this match.
Hooker Craig Burden has tweaked his hamstring and is also unavailable.
Ruan Botha has been battling with a nerve impingement on his foot and will be out for a few weeks.
The fillip of good news for the Sharks is that Tendai Mtawarira and Cameron Wright, who did not make the trip to Argentina, due to injury, are back at training and available for selection this week.
The Sharks team, to play the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday, will be announced on Thursday.
