Sharks' media blackout

The Sharks have encouraged media covering Saturday's Super Rugby clash against the Waratahs to wear their team's jersey.

"Ahead of the first home game, the Cell C Sharks have decided to follow another union’s decision to call for a media blackout. Cell C Sharks COO Eduard Coetzee confirmed, 'This weekend we want our media to be all blacked out'," it said in a post on the Sharks website.

The other union the Sharks are referring to is obviously the Lions, who decided not to hold an official press conference this week ahead of their clash against the Bulls.

The Sharks' post added: "Every official accredited journalist who covers both the pre-match press conference and the Cell C Sharks match against the Waratahs on Saturday will receive a Cell C Sharks black home Vodacom Super Rugby jersey from Canterbury, and inline with their #makethepitchblack campaign, will also receive a free subscription to black – the latest innovative online entertainment platform. This weekend we want Our Media to be ALL BLACKED OUT!!!"
