Steyn gets pivotal role
Frans Steyn has been moved to flyhalf as the Sharks look to bounce back against the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday.
The Round 12 encounter is the first match of their month-long Australasian Super Rugby tour.
Director of Rugby Jake White made a number changes.
In moving Steyn from inside centre to flyhalf yet again, young Tim Swiel drops out of the matchday 23 after a couple of underwhelming performances.
There is a new centre pairing of Heimar Williams and Paul Jordaan.
Odwa Ndungane also makes a welcome return to the side on the right wing.
Among the forwards Keegan Daniel and Ryan Kankowski rotate at No.8, with the latter starting this week.
Jean Deysel (flank) and Bismarck du Plessis (hooker) both return after missing last week's disappointing loss to the Highlanders through injury.
Cobus Reinach has also been passed fit and makes his way back into the matchday squad, but will play off the bench after missing the last four games through injury.
