Taute's Bok dream on hold
Lions utility back Jaco Taute must put his Springbok aspirations on hold for a little longer, after suffering a shoulder injury.
The 21-year-old has been on of the few shining lights in a dismal Super Rugby campaign for the Lions, and was a genuine contender for a place in Heyneke Meyer's first Springbok squad.
However, Taute was forced to leave the field early on in the Lions' defeat to the Western Force last weekend with a shoulder injury.
According to Beeld newspaper, Taute will be out for at least a month, which rules him out of contention for the June test series against England.
Taute's very obvious talent means that his time in a Bok jersey will come, but this is an unfortunate setback for the talented starlet.
The Lions clash with the Sharks this weekend in Johannesburg in the final weekend of Super Rugby before the June break, and Butch James will again be available to take over from Taute in the midfield.
James had been serving a four-week ban for a shoulder charge on Brumbies lock Scott Fardy.
