The Karmichael-Cooper show

Karmichael Hunt is looking forward to pairing his exciting brand of ball running with school-mate Quade Cooper's mercurial playing style when the Reds begin their Super Rugby Season next year.

Hunt's transition back to Rugby Union from AFL seems to be going smoothly for the three time code-hopper who is slowly integrating himself to the sport and the team.

The former Gold Coast Suns AFL player, who is best known as a rugby league player for the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL, joined the Reds earlier this year along with James O'Connor.

Hunt and Cooper both attended Anglican Church Grammar School, Brisbane, and although they did not play together at school level, the former League star is excited to play alongside the Wallaby flyhalf.

"I didn't play with Quade [Cooper] at school, he was a couple years younger, but he is a Churchie boy like myself so I am looking forward to playing with him," Hunt said.

"I have had a bit to do with him over the last few weeks before he was called up to the Wallabies and we have hit it off quiet nicely along with the other boys I have been training with.

"I am a big fan of how Quade plays his footy and I look forward to being along side him next year."

The transition for Hunt has thus far been slow, but successful as he gets to grips with the Reds team and its style.

"It is going well, been here for about six weeks now and I have slowly been integrating myself and meeting the boys that are around at the moment," he added.

"Been doing light skills, did a bit of running but I have been carrying a knee injury for most of the year, that has come good now and I'm looking forward to getting some skills sessions in before we break up in a couple of weeks time.

"But all in all, it has been a great transition."

The benefit for the code-hopper is that he is not totally unaccustomed to the game of Rugby Union, having played it at school and as a professional with Biarritz.

"I have played this game before, as a junior and as a professional in France as well," Hunt continued.

"It is a matter of getting my head in the game, getting some vision, getting my hands on the ball and obviously getting to know the plays."

There is still much conjecture as to what position would best suit the versatile back with the coach and even the player himself not eluding to anything specific as yet.

"Nothing too specific yet, obviously I won't be playing in the forward pack; I have been watching things from the back with Richard [Graham].

"Depending on what plays are being run, I will just keep an eye on every position."
