Tomane to fly again?
Brumbies speedster Joe Tomane is nearing a return to action, but will he be fit for the vital clash this weekend?
Tomane injured his ankle at training with the Wallabies just before the first Test against Wales and has been sidelined since that time, but he is nearing a return at a crucial stage of the season.
The Brumbies are on the verge of finishing in top spot in the Australian conference, but if the Reds can defeat the Waratahs with a bonus point Jake White's men will need to pick up at least one point against the Blues.
A loss to the Blues could be disastrous for the Canberra side, as the second placed team in the Australian conference is in danger of missing out on the playoffs.
Tomane has been is excellent try-scoring form for the Brumbies this season and could be an important weapon out wide at the end of the campaign.
"Physically I feel fine but I haven't done much to test the ankle," Tomane told AAP. "I haven't done any serious training yet so I've got to put my ankle through that kind of stress before I can see if I'm ready to play Super Rugby.
"It's coming along really well and it's probably healing a little bit faster than expected but these injuries are pretty tricky.
"Whether it's this week or next week, or whether it's for the Brumbies or the Owls (Brumbies' feeder team), I'm not sure. I've got to get through a full week of training and see what the coaches want to do with me."
The rugby league convert added that he is not expecting to walk straight back in the starting line-up.
"Who knows, I may not even play in that finals series, it depends on how the ankle goes and I don't think the coaches want to change too much if the team's going well," he said.
