VIDEO: Bulls found missing ingredient
REACTION: Bulls head coach Pote Human praised new signing Rosko Specman for his impressive performance during the Bulls’ 40-3 Super Rugby victory over the Stormers on Saturday.
Specman, Blitzboks legend, kicked off his Super Rugby career in spectacular fashion.
It took the 29-year-old just four minutes to make his mark, cutting inside from the left wing and sprinting clear to dot down at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. He scored again in the 19th minute, this time outpacing a startled Stormers defence to become the fifth player to score two tries in round 1 this weekend.
“We need somebody like him [Rosko Specman],” Human told reporters after the match, adding: “He proved that he is the x-factor the Bulls needed to finish because last year I think we played good rugby but couldn’t finish,”
Human also praised the Bulls team, who scored four answered tries against the Stormers.
“The whole team really produced a great performance.
“We worked hard for this one, we knew it’s going to be tough, but all credit to the team and my management team we got it spot on and the players produced on the field.
“To not give away a try against the Stormers is a great achievement,” said Human.
Specman added that his teammates put in the hard yards and allowed him space to find his way to the try-line.
“The guys did everything up front and if the defence always goes back it means the space is somewhere,” the former Cheetahs wing explained.
“The guys created the space for me out wide and my job as a wing I must finish and today I did everything that I could do,” he added.
Despite a ‘near-perfect’ performance, Human urged identified key areas that need improvement ahead of their match against the Jaguares at the Estadio José Amalfitani.
“Super Rugby is not won in the first week but it’s a great start, this is great for the confidence of the guys and I’m really looking forward to the season.
“We can’t give away soft penalties and then sometimes on defence we were too narrow that’s something we can work on but it was a near perfect performance,” said Human.
