Springbok star Rudolph Snyman is set to miss the first two months of the season, after picking up an injury while playing club rugby in Japan.

Team doctor Herman Rossouw revealed the 23-year-old second row forward will be sidelined for eight weeks.

The lock went for scans on Monday, after arriving back from Japan.

“The scans revealed the injury to his ankle was much worst than anticipated and he will have to undergo surgery on Tuesday,” Rossouw said.

“It will mean he will be on the sidelines for an eight-week period.”

The Bulls will also be without hooker Jaco Visagie {ankle injury) for the next six weeks.

On the flipside, there was some positive news on wing Travis Ismaiel, who had a revision on his shoulder injury and he is now set to be out for eight weeks, as opposed to three months.

Marnitz Boshoff, Marco van Staden and Edgar Marutlulle are all making good progress with their rehabilitation programmes.

The Bulls have also offered former Sharks utility Garth April a contract, but only if he passes a medical.

April injured his shoulder in his last game in Japan and was due to see specialists in Pretoria on Monday.
