Video: Stormers have enough 'injury cover'
MEDICAL UPDATE: Stormers defence coach Norman Laker is confident the team has adequate cover for injury setbacks.
The Stormers paid a dear price for their 39-6 bonus-point victory over Griquas in Kimberley last Saturday.
The Stormers will definitely be without wing Edwill van der Merwe for their crucial Round Six encounter with the Cheetahs at Newlands this coming Saturday.
The young flyer injured his hamstring in the first minute of the game in Kimberley.
The exact length of his stay on the sidelines has not been confirmed.
They are also waiting for feedback on the scan to David Meihuizen’s chest injury.
Laker, addressing the media on Tuesday in the build-up to the Cheetahs showdown, said they are not getting any players back from injury.
However. they have enough depth in their squad to cover the new injuries.

“We have some very worthy replacements [in] Chris van Zyl,” he said about the situation in the second row.
“[Regular starting lock] Salmaan Moerat was on the bench [against Griquas] this past weekend.
“We are covered at lock and wing,” Laker said, adding: “Ruhan [Nel] is a world-class Sevens player and can slot in at any position [in the outside backs].
“We also have Leolin Zas also.”
He added they are waiting on news of the availability of loose forward Jaco Coetzee.
