VIDEO: 'You haven't see the best of the Sharks'
WATCH as Sharks coach Robert du Preez chats about his team’s impressive win over the Blues and looks forward to next week’s encounter with the Stormers.
Replacement Curwin Bosch scored a late try to seal a 26-7 bonus-point victory for the Sharks over the Blues in Durban – as they maintained a perfect start to the season and raced to the top of the standings.
They next face the Stormers – who bounced back from an opening round loss (3-40 to the Bulls) to beat the Lions 19-17 at Newlands this past weekend.
While the Sharks lost the services of the dangerous Sibusiso Nkosi in a tackle around the half-hour mark, Du Preez said the Springbok flyer is “okay”.
“He had pins-and-needles in his arm,” the coach said, adding: “I think he will be alright.”
The Sharks can’t afford to celebrate too much, after their 10-point haul in the opening weeks.
They need to shift focus to the vastly-improved Stormers.
“The Stormers is a quality side,” Du Preez said, adding that it is important for his team to keep on growing.
“For us, it is really important that we do well at home,” he said.
“To get five points [against the Blues] is invaluable.
“[However,] we want to get better.
“You haven’t see the best of this team, that is for sure. There is still a lot to come.”
He said it is important that they recover from the bumps and bruises.
“There is great respect for New Zealand teams and the Blues brought the best out of us, especially during the first half,” he said.
“It is vital that we maintain this good start.
“Too often in previous seasons we have been up one weekend and down the next.”
The Blues, the weakest of the five New Zealand title contenders in recent seasons, have just one point from two matches.
