Welsh legend's dramatic change of heart
COVID-19: Veteran Welsh centre Jamie Roberts has had a dramatic change of heart and left South Africa on a late-night flight on Thursday.
Roberts, 33, who just days ago suggested he will stick around in South Africa instead of returning home to Wales, took to social media to make the announcement.
Earlier this week, in a release by the @THESTORMERS, he said the ‘great weather’ and ‘good food’ played a role in his decision – despite all rugby having been suspended.
However, on Thursday Roberts posted from the Cape Town airport that he had an “unforgettable” 10 weeks in the country.
“Cape Town a special place,” he said, adding “Have loved playing alongside @THESTORMERS lads at Newlands and beyond!”
He continued: “About to board the last flight out of SA before the lockdown begins at midnight.
“Best we’re home in the UK during this unprecedented time. Be back ASAP.”
All the best to you and yours over there Jamie, Cape Town and the Faithful will be here to welcome you back when all this is over. 🔵⚪️ https://t.co/bIEvUxt58D
