Worried 'Tahs looking for answers

The Waratahs slumped to their sixth consecutive defeat when they were blown away by the Hurricanes on the second half on Saturday, leaving the team demoralised.

The Sydney side let in three tries and 20 points after half-time and their skipper Benn Robinson said that their lack of defensive discipline was the most frustrating aspect of the loss.

"We are very disappointed with the way we played tonight. To be leaking 33 points is very disappointing.

"In years gone past we've been a strong defensive side, but 33 points, no matter how good our attack is, we can't be winning those games," he said.

Coach Michael Foley said that another massive factor in their limp performance had been an inability to convert territory and possession into points.

"A large part of that game we played it as we wanted but without taking points it becomes a bit of a fruitless exercise," he said after the game.

Foley said that his side have a lot to ponder and work on in the upcoming break, as they need to find a way to end the horror six-match losing streak.

"I think there’s a lot of learning happening at the moment. Some of the games we’ve lost we've lost in moments rather than in periods. That doesn't make it any easier to take but I think there's a hell of a lot of learning out of it," he said.

The Waratahs boss said that although his team may be out of the running for the play-offs this season they need to keep the bigger picture in mind and set about turning their game around.

"I think it’s important for the players to keep focused and keep fighting. It's a very, very disappointing season for everyone but out of that you can learn things and I think a team exists and has a life outside of one season and I think it's a very, very important thing for us to be able to shed the baggage and grow from here on in," said Foley.
