Bok star responds to French transfer rumours

TRANSFER NEWS: South Africa’s powerhouse prop Ox Nche has responded to speculation that he might be leaving the Sharks to join a French club.

Last week, RugbyPass reported that the Sharks are on the fence about whether or not they can keep the World Cup winner beyond the end of the current season and French clubs have expressed their interest in the world-class prop.

However, during a press conference ahead of the Springboks’ Rugby Championship Round Five clash against Argentina, Nche played down those rumours.

“I have not heard anything from any French club,” said the 29-year-old.

“I asked my agent when I saw the article and he actually said he would handle it.

“But I have not heard anything and there have not been any discussions.

“So, as far as I know, I am happy to stay in South Africa.”

Nche will start in the No.1 jersey at Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero on Saturday.

The Springboks will win the Rugby Championship title if they get the better of Felipe Contepomi’s side.

The two sides will meet again in Round Six at Mbombela Stadium on September 28.
