Fijian wing joins Top 14 new boys Vannes
NEWS: Fiji wing Filipo Nakosi has joined Vannes on a two-year deal from Castres, the newly promoted French Top 14 side announced on Monday.
Nakosi, 32, won the last of his two Test caps at the 2019 World Cup and has agreed to make the move to his fourth French club.
Bulldozing Nakosi has scored 38 tries in 129 Top 14 appearances having originally signed for Agen in 2015. He then spent a season with half-brother Josua Tuisova at Toulon before switching to Castres for five campaigns.
“Filipo has made the choice to give his career new impetus by taking on this challenge with Vannes,” the Breton club said.
“Welcome to Brittany Filipo,” they added before their maiden season in the French top flight.
Vannes has also signed Chile centre Inaki Ayarza as they become the first Breton club in the Top 14.
According to specialist rugby newspaper Midi Olympique, they are also interested in former New Zealand midfielder Francis Saili, ex-England prop Mako Vunipola and Fijian back-rower Kitione Kamikamica.
The new Top 14 season begins on the weekend of September 7-8.
