Servat to coach Toulouse pack

France hooker William Servat will take over as Toulouse forwards coach next season to replace former clubmate Yannick Bru who is now with the France national team, according to club president Jean-Rene Bouscatel.

Servat will continue to play for Toulouse at least until the end of this season, with his contract running to June 2013.

“It means a lot because I came to Toulouse (in 1994) and this is carrying on my career,” the 34-year-old Servat said Wednesday.

In moving into coaching, he will be following directly in the footsteps of former teammate Jean-Baptiste Elissalde, who was named as the club’s backs coach after he finished playing for Toulouse.

Servat, a three-time European Cup champion with Toulouse, is in line to win his 46th cap for France when he takes the pitch against Scotland in the Six Nations on February 26.
