Welsh bad boy back in action

Wales international scrumhalf Mike Phillips has had his suspension for "intolerable" behaviour lifted by his French club Bayonne.

The Basque club's officials said Phillips could resume training on Wednesday, meaning he could be in the reckoning for a recall for Bayonne's European Challenge Cup match against Italian team Mogliano on Friday.

Club president Alain Afflelou suspended Phillips for "his intolerable sporting behaviour off the pitch".

The French businessman added that the 30-year-old Welsh player would also receive a fine as an example.

It is not the first time that Phillips has landed himself in hot water for his off-field antics.

In October 2008 Phillips was hospitalised after an attack outside a Cardiff nightclub and in June 2011 he was suspended from the Wales World Cup training squad after a late night incident in Cardiff.
