Baby Boks miss JWC semifinals
The South African Under-20 side missed out on a semifinal berth at the IRB Junior World Championships being played in Northern Italy.
The semifinalists are the three pool winners – New Zealand, France and England and the best of the rest, which in this case is Australia.
South Africa and Australia both won two matches and lost one in their pools and ended with 11 log points each but Australia had the better points difference – 66-43.
Australia’s opponents were France, Fiji and Tonga. South Africa’s opponents were England, Scotland and Ireland.
South Africa will now play off with Wales, Ireland and Fiji for fifth place.
