Junior World Championship starts
The IRB's Junior World Championship starts in the West of France on 6 June 2012 – D-Day for the world' most promising rugby players.
It is just the sixth such championship but growing in popularity and importance. Last year's Final brought 35 000 spectators to Newlands.
The IRB's first foray into age-group rugby was to start two competitions – Under-21 and Under-19. In 2008 closed down those two and opened with the Junior World Rugby Championship and the Junior World Rugby Trophy, both for Under-20 players.
Of the five Finals so far, New Zealand have won four, South Africa one.
The Finals were as follows:
2008: New Zealand beat England 38-3.
