The Bulls are coming off a three-week break following their narrow defeat to the Stormers in Round 12 of the URC.

The Pretoria-based side played four consecutive local derbies which is known for its high physicality when the South African franchises lock horns.

The visiting Leinster are also known for their physicality and Carr believes that they shouldn’t deviate from that aspect of their game which they employed when playing their local counterparts.

“It’s key for us that we stick to the mindset of the physicality of [playing] South African derbies.

“We can definitely carry that over to the Leinster game.

“We’re going to continue doing that, it’s not something we’re going to give up on or doing it for certain games.

“We will try and do a similar thing we did in the local derbies.”

The Irish giants have historically sent a second-string outfit when touring South Africa, but Carr downplayed any suggestion that it should be a reason the Bulls should take them lightly.

“We respect whoever they send to South Africa,” Carr said.

“We also understand that they also come off a Six Nations campaign.

He added: “On the field, it’s a different story.

“We need to execute the plan we’ve been given.

“It has been tough coming off the break and the loss to the Stormers.

“We want to go out there and make each other and the people of Pretoria proud.”
