The Capetonians recorded their first win of the season in Italy when they hammed Zebre Parma 36-5 at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi.

John Dobson’s side scored four tries on their way to victory and it was a big morale booster after they started their three-match tour with a 24-37 defeat to Ospreys.

The Stormers’ final tour match against Edinburgh is a big one for Dobson and he said as much after Saturday’s clash against Zebre.

“Our goal for the tour was to try and get two wins,” said Dobson.

“We used our free hit last week and Edinburgh will be a very different prospect, so it will be very difficult.

“But I think we got confidence from it [the win over Zebre].

“Had we gone there [Edinburgh] without a win, we would’ve lacked confidence, but now it is everything to play for, for us.

“I feel like we are in a good space.

“The plan was for Steven Kitshoff and Sacha [Feinberg-Mngomezulu] to be with us today. They weren’t here and it doesn’t look like we sustained more injuries, so it’s a healthy and very happy squad.

“We are going to put everything into next week and get two wins on tour.”

Dobson was pleased with the way his side dealt with the pressure heading into the Zebre Parma game.

“We were under a bit of pressure, so it’s a massive relief,” he said.

“I don’t want to use cliches but were really clinical and we did what we had to do.

“We had to grind out a win and work hard against a very physical team, so I am very pleased with the outcome.”
