John Dobson’s men failed to hit their stride and eventually concluded the match with three successful penalties by centre Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu.

The South Africans also struggled with discipline and went down to 13 men on the brink of the first half.

Glasgow Warriors looked really dangerous with the ball. They put the Stormers’ defence under a huge amount of pressure.

However, the Scotts failed to convert their chances.

Sebastian Cancelliere’s run from his own half carried Warriors into the Stormers’ 22. Tom Jordan was waiting on his shoulder to finish but Cancelliere’s pass failed to find the flyhalf and the opportunity was lost.

Stormers also had their fair share of chances, but unforced errors halted all their efforts.

They eventually moved in front through a Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu penalty after Ollie Smith had been penalised for not releasing.

Glasgow replied through a Tuipulotu try after George Horne had fed Stafford McDowall from the back of the scrum who in turn found Tuipulotu who burst under the posts. Horne converted.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu knocked over another penalty before the Warriors landed another score. This time it came from the line-out drive, with Matthews scoring from the maul.

This time Horne could not make the conversion but did knock over a penalty shortly afterwards after Stormers were punished for not rolling away.

But the first half belonged to Glasgow as they managed to find a way to try line.

Scotland international Sione Tuipulotu sold a dummy to Feinberg-Mngomezulu for the first try of the match, while Johnny Matthews powered his way over the line at the back of a maul.

George Horne added a conversion for a 12-6 lead after 30 minutes of play.

Horne and Feinberg-Mngomezulu exchanged penalties as the hosts took the 15-9 advantage.

It went from bad to worse for the Stormers. They were reduced to 14 men for 10 minutes after Evan Roos tackled Matt Fagerson to the ground off the ball and was shown a yellow card.

That quickly became 13 when Joseph Dweba was penalised for a dangerous tackle on Greg Peterson and joined his teammate in the sin bin.

Glasgow were quick to take advantage with Matthews diving over in the corner for his second try of the game – handing Glasgow a 20-9 lead at the break.

The 13-man Stormers were soon back to their full complement in the second stanza.

They started to put the home defence under a period of sustained pressure.

But some stout defending kept the visitors at bay in a scoreless second half.

Play of the Match
Glasgow scored their first try off the back of the scrum. Scrumhalf George Horne found Stafford McDowall and the captain played the perfect pass inside to Sione Tuipulotu whose running line took him past the Stormers’ defence and right underneath the posts, allowing Horne to make a simple conversion.

Player of the Match
Scotland centre Tuipulotu was making his first Glasgow Warriors appearance of the season and showed both sides of his game in an impressive performance, underlining his pace and vision with a first-half try and then showing his defensive qualities in the second half when Warriors found themselves under the pump.
