Lions get big guns back for Connacht clash
NEWS: The Lions will be able to bolster their team with some key players for their United Rugby Championship clash against Connacht in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Lions assistant coach Ricardo Laubscher confirmed that powerhouse centre Burger Odendaal is back after missing his team’s URC matches against Edinburgh and Sharks due to Covid protocols.
Meanwhile, the Lions will also be significantly strengthened in the front row with hooker Jaco Visagie and prop Carlu Sadie also back.
“Burger is back in training and we had Jaco Visagie playing in that Currie Cup game against Griquas,” said Laubscher.
“From an injury point of view, it is just positives, so we are looking forward to another opportunity against Connacht to get back to winning ways.”
Laubscher added: “Everyone is ready to go. Carlu Sadie is also back in training and he also played that game against Griquas.
“Everyone will be available for the last few games.
“It’s good to have tough choices to make in terms of selection.”
The Lions are 12th (30 points) in the URC standings with six wins from their 15 games.
Connacht are in 10th place with 32 points.
