URC Final sold out in hours
NEWS: The United Rugby Championship Final between the Stormers and Munster will produce a record attendance.
All available tickets for the Cape Town Stadium Final next Saturday, May 27, were sold in under three 3 hours on Thursday.
It will produce a new record crown of 55,000 spectators.
As @rugby365com reported earlier this week, when the Stormers beat Irish province Connacht 43-25 in their semifinal last Saturday the stadium set a new all-time attendance record.
The 47,261 spectators at the Cape Town stadium was the biggest in the history of URC, and Pro14/12 competitions.
It even beat the record for a Final, which was 47,125 in 2019 at Celtic Park in Glasgow β for the encounter between Glasgow Warriors and Leinster.
Thursday’s ticket rush opened at 10.00 local time and just after 12.00 all tickets were sold.
During the brief rush the ticketing agency put up a notice: “Please note we are currently experiencing an extraordinarily high volume of bookings.
“You will be placed in an automated queueing system which guarantees that tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.”
No doubt there are thousands of disappointed fans who did not make the cut.
