URC Final: Stats reveal Munster's dominance over Stormers
STATISTICAL SPOTLIGHT: The Stormers were made to work hard on defence in their United Rugby Championship Final against Munster over the weekend.
The Capetonians were unable to retain the title as they went down 14-19 to the Irish giants at Cape Town Stadium.
Munster were outstanding out of the blocks and they had the Stormers on the ropes for much of the first half.
With Graham Rowntree’s side dominating possession the Stormers were forced to make a truckload of tackles.
The Stormers made a whopping 110 tackles in the first half and at the end of the 80 minutes that tally was 191.
Dobson’s side missed 34 tackles in the match.
Munster made 89 tackles in the whole match and they only missed nine.
At the end of the match, the Stormers’ tackle success percentage stood at 85 percent, with Munster recording 91 percent.

With 60 percent of the possession in the match, Munster made seven clean breaks compared to the Stormers’ five.
The Irish side also beat a whopping 34 defenders with ball in hand.
One area where the Stormers struggled was the kicking game.
When it comes to “kicks retained”, the Capetonians could only muster one, while Munster had six.
