VIDEO: Snyman busy knocking the Bok door down
REACTION: Munster lock Rudolph Snyman reminded Springboks management and supporters of his incredible skills during his team’s 26-24 win over Stormers at the Cape Town Stadium at the weekend.
Snyman made his first United Rugby Championship start of the season after a nightmare period with injuries – including two major knee surgeries.
The World Cup-winning lock also sustained burns in a firepit accident in June 2021 – which contributed to his lack of game time since he joined the Irish province in 2020.
However, this past Saturday he used the opportunity to stake a claim for a Springbok World Cup spot.
The lock was a vital cog in his team’s win over Stormers, which boasted a pack with Springboks Marvin Orie, Steven Kitshoff and Franse Malherbe.
The 28-year-old was solid in defence and attack, and a constant threat at the line-outs.
He also topped the stats for the most offloads and carries in the Munster team.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Munster coach Graham Rowntree had huge praise for Snyman.
“I thought his performance was huge,” Rowntree said in the wake of Munster’s win over Stormers.
“He was constantly involved, on both sides of the ball. Of course, he is a huge presence in the setpiece and the maul.
“He’s had a tricky time, and it is well-documented.
“But he has been great with the group.
“He is in our leadership group and the lads really respect him and have taken to him.”
Snyman’s Springbok teammate Steven Kitshoff admitted he was happy to see the towering lock back.
“He is a quality player,” Kitshoff said, adding: “He is getting that game confidence back he had in 2019 and 2020.
“I am chuffed for RG.
“He is really knocking hard on getting a possible callback in the Springbok side.”
