With the assistance of Dobson’s sisters and the team management, they arranged that his mother, Margaret, presented him with the United Rugby Championship Trophy Crown at the team’s captain’s run on Friday.

The will Stormers host Munster in the URC Final at a sold-out (55,000) Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

Mrs Dobson, 84, walked out of the tunnel as the team gathered in a circle, assisted by her daughters (John Dobson’s sisters) to hand Trophy Crown to her son.

The Stormers are aiming to win a second consecutive URC title.

At first unaware until the faces of his players, one after the other, lit up with smiles at the unobtrusive entrance, Dobson’s team talk was stopped in its tracks as it dawned on him just who was approaching.

Dobson was visibly moved as he embraced his mum in a touching moment, while Mrs Dobson appeared quite delighted at successfully executing the motherly ambush.
