Why Stormers captain Moerat is not featuring in pre-season matches
SQUAD UPDATE: Stormers captain Salmaan Moerat is currently on the sidelines with a knee injury.
However, the injury has been described as “not serious” and he is “expected back soon”.
Moerat did not feature in the Stormers’ 64-26 win over SWD in a pre-season match in George last weekend.
He was also not named in the Stormers’ teams to face SWD and the Sharks in a doubleheader at Outeniqua Park on Friday.
Moerat, who made his Springbok debut against Wales last year, is no stranger to knee injuries.
His 2022/23 season was cut short by a serious one, which he picked up in a Champions Cup clash at Cape Town Stadium in December.
The Stormers will start their 2023/24 United Rugby Championship season with a match against the Lions in Johannesburg on October 21.
