VIDEO: Stormers eye Sharks' Bok prop

SPOTLIGHT: Stormers Director of Rugby John Dobson has confirmed that they have Sharks and Springbok prop Ntuthuko Mchunu on their radar amid their mini loosehead prop crisis.

The Stormers had some rotten luck in the loosehead prop department with Lizo Gqoboka, Allister Vermaak and double World Cup winner Steven Kitshoff all sidelined with injuries.

The versatile Brok Harris, who can cover both sides of the scrum, and Sti Sithole were rotated in the matches against Zebre and Edinburgh as well as this past weekend’s match against Munster – while Leon Lyons had a shot against Ospreys off the bench.

The reality is that the Stormers are a single loosehead prop injury away from being in a real crisis.

With Harris being in his golden years and the severity of Gqoboka, Vermaak and Kitshoff’s injuries still fairly unknown, it would make sense that the Cape side would be looking at reinforcements.

“He [Mchunu] is on our radar definitely.” Dobson said.

“If you look at our loosehead roster, it’s Ali [Vermaak], Steve [Steven Kitshoff], Lizo Gqoboka all carrying injuries in some form and they’re senior props so a 24/25 years old Springbok like that would be a great addition to us.” He confirmed.
