Understrength Sharks deny Glasgow a bonus-point win
MATCH REPORT: Glasgow Warriors kept their winning home run intact with a hard-fought 21-10 win over the Sharks at the Scotstoun Stadium.
The Scottish side outscored the visitors three tries to two.
However, Franco Smith’s men failed to score the much-needed fourth for the bonus-point win against a Sharks side, resting the bulk of the first-team starters in preparation for their upcoming EPCR Challenge Cup semifinal on May 4.

George Horne, Max Williamson and Kyle Steyn scored first-half tries for Glagsow, while Dan Jooste and Ntutchuko Mchunu were on the scoresheet for the Sharks.
Glasgow got off to a solid start. They dominated the opening exchanges of the match and kept the Sharks inside their own 22. The hosts were eventually rewarded.
Horne spotted the opportunity and with a quick tap, stretched over the line. The scrumhalf converted his try for the 7-0 lead.
The home side continued to push for a second try and after a long period of relentless attack, it eventually arrived in the 30th minute when Max Williamson powered over the line.
Trailing by 14 points, the Sharks did not fold. They pilled on the pressure inside in Glasgow’s 22.
However, the home side tried to keep them at bay but was penalised for repeat infringements and Scott Cummings was handed a yellow card.
The Sharks took advantage of the extra man and soon Jooste crashed over to get his team on the board. Curwin Bosch missed the conversion effort.
With the clock well past 40 minutes, the nippy scrumhalf Horne set up captain Kyle Steyn, who rampaged under the posts for their third try. Horne added the easy conversion for the 21-5 lead at the break.
The second half was a scrappy affair, with neither side able to get into any kind of rhythm.
Siya Masuku, Vincent Tshituka, Khwezi Mona and Vincent Koch took to the field in the second half.
The Sharks scored the only points in the second stanza, a terrific run from prop Mchunu finishing with him stretching for the line.
Siya Masuka missed the conversion attempt as Glasgow held on to record a hard-fought victory.
Man of the match: Glasgow Warriors scrumhalf George Horne. The No.9 dictated the play well and not only did he score the team’s first try, but he also set up a five-pointer.
