On Tuesday, French club Oyonnax confirmed that they have signed flyhalf Chris Smith for two seasons.

Smith was part of the Bulls squad that lost 16-21 to the Glasgow Warriors in last weekend’s United Rugby Championship Final.

The 29-year-old was crowned this season’s URC Golden Boot winner with 30 successful kicks and an accuracy of 90 percent.

The Golden Boot is awarded in recognition of the most accurate place-kicker, with all kickers who have attempted a minimum of 30 ranked by their success percentage.

Smith made his professional debut with the Bulls in Super Rugby Unlocked and then in Currie Rugby (which he won in 2020-2021 and 2021) before finally getting a chance in URC.

During his five seasons with the Bulls, he played a total of 74 matches, scoring 452 points

Meanwhile, Glasgow’s URC-winning prop Oli Kebble will also join Oyonnax next season on a two-year deal.

Kebble, a hugely popular figure with Glasgow supporters, is moving on after seven seasons at Scotstoun.

Capped 11 times by Scotland during his time in Glasgow, the 32-year-old made his 100th appearance in April’s victory over the Sharks at Scotstoun.

Kebble’s exit from Scotstoun was confirmed last month by the club.

Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith said: “We would like to thank each and every one of our leavers for their efforts throughout their time with Glasgow Warriors.

“Each of them have bought in and contributed both on and off the field, helping us to become as close-knit a playing group as we can possibly be.

“I would like to sincerely thank each player for their commitment to the club over the years, and we wish them all the very best for whatever comes next.

“Every player and their family is welcome back at Scotstoun at any point – once a Warrior, always a Warrior.”
