Adriaan Born(man) to lead Maroela

Maroela centre and captain Adriaan Bornman will be a major role-player in his team’s Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships semifinal against Huis Armentum (Free State University) in Bloemfontein tonight (kick-off 7pm).

Bornman has scored 35 points in the Tukkies-based side’s three pool matches; 16 against Over de Voor (Pukke), 15 against Dromedaris (UJ) and four against Monitor (TUT).

Bornman said on Monday, prior to his team’s departure to Bloemfontein, that Armentum – who topped the Southern section log – would without doubt be Maroela’s biggest challenge thus far.

“We will have to play to our true potential to beat them,” said Bornman to varsitycup.co.za.

“They are unbeaten and have scored four or more tries in all of their pool matches. Only a 80-minute effort from us will therefore be good enough.”

He expects the first 20 minutes of this game to be crucial, since this Armentum team is at its best in this period.
