Bastion chase unbeaten record
It’s all systems go on Wednesday night at UJ when the Steinhoff Koshuis League teams take to the field again after a well-deserved holiday.
To date, the first division has been a close contest between Dromedaris and Bastion.
The guys from ‘Drom’ ended last semester strongly when they ran in nine tries to beat Kanniedood 54-10.
Afslaan and Oppierif were too aggressive in their fixture and the game was stopped – ending in a draw.
The teams from Afslaan, ‘Drom’, Bastion and Majuba will all resume the league with the hope of ending the season at number one.
Majuba is one of the new teams in the league and, surprisingly, find themselves in fourth position on the log after four games.
The Chiropractors and Kanniedood would want a win as soon as possible to boost the morale in the team, whilst it is difficult to imagine Vorendag’s team moving from the last spot on the log.
Wednesday night’s games are the last games of the first division’s first round.
Bastion will try to stamp down their authority when they face Afslaan to stay unbeaten in the league, while both Oppierif and Kanniedood will be aiming for their first wins.
‘Drom’ have a bye this week and will certainly make use of the extra time to start preparations for the second round that starts next week.
In the second division, meanwhile, Majuba will be tested in their clash with ‘Drom’ and the match between Bastion and Afslaan is shaping up as the highlight of the evening.
Kanniedood face the tightly-knit team from The Lions Rugby factory, DFC face UJ’s U/19 B-side and the Chiropractors would be relishing the prospect of a win over Vorendag.
