'Drom', Bastion dominate Baa-baas XV

The UJ Steinhoff International Barbarians team was announced on Wednesday evening, after an absorbing Steinhoff Koshuis League Final at the university.

Consistent players were rewarded with a spot in the team; Koshuis League finalists, Bastion and Dromedaris, dominated the selection, with eight and six players each, respectively – an understandable scenario given their performances during the season.

Kanniedood and DFC were perhaps not the best teams on show in the league, but the inclusion of three Kanniedood forwards and the centre pairing of DFC showed that hard work and good, consistent play will always be rewarded.

The rest of the team is made up from players of Oppierif, Afslaan and the Chiropractors – each of whom have one player representing their house.

‘Drom’ captain Brett Claassens is an excellent leader and was deservedly named captain for the Barbarians.

The UJ Steinhoff International Barbarians will play one game against a Varsity Cup Invitational XV. The coaches will be announced at a later stage and the date of the match – expected to be during October – will also be confirmed.
