Drom ready for 'Baa-Baas'

Dromedaris (UJ) have made three changes to their starting XV for Monday’s 2009 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships semifinal against the Barbarians (NMMU) at Johannesburg’s West Sports Grounds.

They were forced to make two changes due to injury and regular captain, Duracell Claasen is back and able to start again after writing semester tests last week.

Conzales Mecuur is sidelined with a knee injury and Spliffie Meyer tore ligaments in his ankle in last week’s win over ‘Overs’ (Shimlas).

Remskoen Daniel is back from injury to replace Mecuur, while Rakoon Wheeler slots in on the side of the scrum to replace Meyer. Dassie Slabbert will move back to the bench, with Claasen starting in the No.2 jersey.

Matilda Jacobsz told varsitycup.co.za that “this week’s practice was disrupted a bit when FNB UJ’s sides played against Union on Thursday, but the guys are still very eager to win this competition”.

Jacobsz added: “We will definitely not underestimate the Barbarians and we are going out to win. We will make UJ proud.”

Dromedaris: 15 Moomin Petla, 14 Remskoen Daniel, 13 Hamlet Janse van Rensburg, 12 Rhinkals Zulu, 11 Koekie Kock, 10 Zulu Parkinson, 9 Matilda Jacobsz, 8 Speenbaas Coleman, 7 Breekskade Swanepoel, 6 Rakoon Wheeler, 5 Bokmakierie Keiser, 4 Plooibekkie Erasmus, 3 G-Spot Bredenkamp, 2 Duracell Claasen, 1 Klitz Nel.
Replacements: 16 Dassie Slabbert, 17 Tollie Platt, 18 Snoetvark Buxman, 19 Iknvis Slabber, 20 Babaganoosh Ellis, 21 Puma Fali, 22 Forrest Scholtz.

Kick-off: 7.30pm

* If any of the 2009 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships semifinal matches end in a draw after regulation time, extra-time will be played.

Twenty minutes of extra-time will be played – ten minutes each half, with one minute for half-time in between.

If the scores are still equal at the conclusion of extra-time, a ‘kick-out’ will be held.

In the ‘kick-out’, each team chooses five players to place-kick from a designated point on the field as instructed by the Tournament Director, or referee. If the scores are still equal at that point; the kicks will then be done on a sudden-death basis.
