'Drom' to finish on a high

It is Week Nine in the UJ Steinhoff Koshuis League and we can, again, expect fireworks in Johannesburg tonight when Afslaan face Oppierif and Dromedaris meet Kanniedood in first division action.

Afslaan and Oppierif gave each other a hard time in their first match which ended in a draw. Afslaan would no doubt, however, like to build on their good first 60 minutes of last week’s match against ‘Drom’.

Oppierif, on the other hand, will be coming off two huge losses in their previous matches – 52-0 v ‘Drom’ and 41-0 v Bastion.

A stronger and motivated Kanniedood side will still be looking for their first win of the season when they face Dromedaris, who are playing in their last league match.

‘Drom’ is certain of their spot in the semifinals next Wednesday, but the outcome of tonight’s and Monday night’s matches will determine who they will face.

They find themselves in the luckiest position for the semi’s as they are the only team that have a rest day, while all the other semifinal contenders are still to play matches on Monday.

‘Drom’ represented the University of Johannesburg in this year’s Steinhoff Koshuis Championships and lost their only match in the final against the slick Huis Armentum of Bloemfontein.

In the second division Afslaan face the UJ U/19B’s, Kanniedood play Majuba, Bastion meet DFC and Dromedaris face the Chiropractors.
