It's over for 'Overs' after 'Drom' loss

Dromedaris (UJ) beat the Pukke’s koshuis side, Over de Voor, 22-15 in Potchefstroom on Monday afternoon, knocking the Men from Potch out of the 2009 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships.

‘Overs’ had a number of opportunities to score from penalties but could not land any of the three attempts. Two kicks hit the uprights.

Craig Platt opened the scoring for ‘Drom’ with a try. Conrad van Rensburg converted and two minutes later Yssel Swanepoel crossed the ‘Overs’ tryline. Van Rensburg missed the conversion but landed a penalty for Dromedaris to lead 15-0.

Gavin Fourie then scored for ‘Overs’ and Morne Archer eventually succeeded with a penalty. The half-time score was 15-8 in Dromedaris’ favour. Rayno Parkinson scored a try for Dromedaris, Van Rensburg converted and ‘Drom’ had a comfortable lead of 22-8 with time running out.

There was a consolation try for ‘Overs’ just before the end when Marius Matthee scored.

Archer converted and the final score was 22-15 for ‘Drom’ – another victory for the unbeaten Men from UJ and the end of the road for Over de Voor.
