Koshuis Final time in Matie-land

Helshoogte and Dagbreek have qualified for the final of Stellenbosch’s 2009 Steinhoff Residence Championships, after obtaining semifinal victories over Eendrag and Simonsberg, respectively.

Helshoogte, having finished at the top of the 2009 league table, had to come from behind against a spirited Eendrag team who qualified for the semifinals thanks to some late heroics in their final league fixture.

The Men from Helshoogte trailed 7-10 halfway through the second period, but a try – which came about from a charge-down kick – saw them home by a narrow margin of 12-10.

In the other semifinal, Dagbreek ran out fairly comfortable victors against Simonsberg (26-8), scoring four tries in the process.

This dominant display ensured that they would have another opportunity to win a Steinhoff Residence title and they will square off against Helshoogte in the final on Friday, October 2 at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Kick-off is at 6.15pm.
