Maroela rule at Tuks once again

If ever it was true that tries win matches, it was on Tuesday, September 8 when Maroela retained Tuks’ Steinhoff Winter House League Championships title.

The fact that Maroela scored the first try of the final against Onderstepoort eventually made all the difference as the two teams were still head-to-head after extra-time.

When the ‘first’ final whistle went, it was 11-11 and after another drama-packed 20 minutes it was still a draw (17-17). However, Maroela’s gallant men were then declared the winners as they had scored the first try of the final.

But, despite the ‘narrow’ victory margin, Maroela deserve all the praise for retaining their title.

They came back magnificently after losing momentum and rhythm in the Top 8 phase. But OP also deserve a big compliment for their masterful performance in the final and very nearly coming away with the title.

Meanwhile, in the Under-20 final, Taaibos had the better of Sonop (13-8), whilst VOB won the second league final, beating EBIT 17-7.
