Player profile: Bradley v/d Westhuizen
Newcomer Brad van der Westhuizen will make his first-ever start for the Ikeys’ Steinhoff Tornadoes, when they play Steinhoff Vishuis (Shimlas) – who smashed Dagbreek 24-7 this past week – in Bloemfontein on Monday, March 1.
Bradley, or Bermuda as he likes to be known, is no stranger to this form of the game.
A large individual, whose path we would not want to cross in a dark alley, he has played for clubs like Villagers and Hammies; before moving to UCT and joining up with his Nadoe teammates.
Incredibly – and despite this being his debut for the Nadoes – the multi-talented prop has also been entrusted with the captain’s armband for this vital match.
Clement le Roux caught up with Bradley and this is what he had to say:
Name: Bradley Kenneth van der Westhuizen.
Nickname: Bermuda, Bradman.
Position: Loose- and tighthead prop.
Which Nadoes legend do you most look up to? Coachie.
Before a Nadoes rugby game… (I am making my debut this season as I have been out injured for two years.) I am raring to go and cannot wait to make my debut and become a Nadoe. It is something I have been dreaming about since I was at school!
Where will you be in ten years’ time? I’m studying construction management, so hopefully when I am not being a Nadoe I’ll be a project manager in my spare time.
Favourite cold cereal: Muesli.
If I could invite any three people to dinner, who would they be? Os Du Randt, Dwayne Leverock and Jenna Jameson.
Current Facebook status: I have never had one I leave that for ladies…

Unusual random fact: I beat Callan Wilko Show in the RBHS 100m sprint every year during sportsday.

Favourite Nadoes moment: Taking the catch of the tournament on cow corner after making up a fair amount of ground and plucking the ball out from over the boundary.
