Maties celebrate with another win

FNB Maties celebrated their Super League title success with a ruthless 75-7 win over Helderberg on Wednesday night.

The Men in Maroon secured the 2010 WP Super League title after their demolition of Hamilton’s last weekend, but it mattered little as they tuned up for the National Club Championships with yet another huge win.

The Varsity Cup champions scored 10 tries to one, with eight of those tries – and 61 points – coming in the second half alone, having led by just 14-7 at half-time.

Wingers Wilhelm Loock (three) and Louw Schabort (two) did most of the damage, whilst veteran loose forward Bennie Booysen (pictured) also weighed in with a five-pointer of his own.

Maties’ scorers:
Tries:
Loock 3, Jordaan, Schabort 2, Booysen, L Adriaanse, White, Laker, Draghoender
Cons: Kemp 10
